User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030217
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030217

The profile manager for 1.3b+ can show five profiles before having to scroll.
When there's five profiles, the scrollbar appears and the profiles can be
scrolled up by one, reveiling a blank area.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
No scroll bar should appear unless there's more than five profiles.
The scroll bar should only scroll TO the last profile, not past it.
[Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401]

Bug confirmed (on W95).

I would guess that the discription could be reversed:
the bug could be the extraneous line,
which then causes the scroll bar to activate (correctly) !?

The way to check would be to have less than 5 profiles,
and try to "select" the extraneous line.

NB: Bug may have existed before v1.3b !?
This picture is taken after "selecting" (= clicking on") the blank profile.

NB: Going from 24b to 256c reduced the .BMP size from 396KB to 133KB.
On a computer with three or four profiles (and a fresh install), I can't click
below the last profile and have it select. However, I've had trouble with the
LAST profile visibly selecting (though I can still click on "use profile" and
it'll load). I've only noticed it since the dialog box was shortened to
accommodate the "Don't Ask at Startup" checkbox. I've also seen this on a
computer running Windows XP but not as consistantly as on Win 9x.

Re comment 3:

*The visibility problem must be bug 120410 !?

*That's interesting:
On my setup with multiple profiles (see attachment from comment 2),
I know that I can "select" (= I mean that it is not a "dead" area) the blank
profile since, if I had selected a N4 profile before, the Start Mozilla button
will change from active to inactive.
Serge, I think you're right. That describes what I'm seeing exactly (assuming
that "Profile1" is the bottom one for me).

I'll have to try it again to verify that it is selectable. I think the "Use
Profile" did dim when I clicked there but I'm not certain. I'll check it when I
get home.

Bug still there. (with v1.3 profile, at least)

NB: Opposite to my comment 5, the blank profile is *not* selectable with v1.4b now.
(may be the change of version, may be because I created/deleted Moz profile ??)

Confirming the whole "bug still there" comment, on v1.6/W98SE.

Also, (on my setup)
it happens allways at Mozilla startup (with "-ProfileManager"),
but never with "Tools > Switch Profile...".!.

Could it be related to bug 120410 comment 95 (and previous) !?

The profile selection dialog may have been designed for a variable number of
rows because at startup it has the extra work offline button, but it may be
possible to vary the size of the dialog and keep a fixed number of rows. The
issue with a variable number of rows is that this allows fractional parts of a
row, possibly as much as 95% of a row, which looks like an unusable extra row.

Agreed: someone(...) would have to look into it,
as it looks a little "un-professional" as it is now,
as ProfileManager is the "first" thing anyone with multiple profiles sees :-(

Confirmed: that's exactly the visual effect which I'm seeing !!
Switch Profile: all/6th "100% height" profiles
-ProfileManager: the last/5th visible position is "95% height" only...
Product: Browser → Seamonkey
WFM in current trunk (2.0b1pre) nightlies, and 1.x isn't developed any more.

That's true. The new profile manager now can show six profiles, and has a small gap under the sixth, but no scroll bar. The scroll bar appears only after there's seven or more profiles.
I tested in in SeaMonkey 1.1.14 and it's resolved there, too.
