one invalid email address with multiple @ signs cause problems when sending
multiple people same letter. seems every address up to the one with errors is
ok, but every address afterwards gets thrashed in various ways. happens with the
more recent 1.3b release too.

i'm not a spammer! just doing a small(~50) opt-in mailing list.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. in address book add "Pete" with the address "feem@intel.comfeem@intel.com"
2. in mail hit compose...address
3. select valid address before "Pete" in address list
4. shift select valid address after "Pete" in address list
5. click "To->" to add all of those addresses to the to field
6. click OK, sometimes you must click OK several times (~8) and sometimes
rapidly, sometimes it seems you must hold OK down for a few seconds. sometimes a
ton of clicking does nothing. but often you can get it to go through.
7. after OK works look at the "To:" field
Actual Results:
Valid email addresses before the example "Pete" were ok. "Pete's" invalid email
address is full of backslashes and quotes, and ended with the right email
address of the next entry. Valid email addresses after "Pete's" were pretty
messed up.

example:
"Public, John Q." <johnqpublic@someisp.com>
Pete <"\"\"feem\""@intel.comfeem@intel.com\"andyqpublic@someotherisp.com>
Public, Andy Q. <c>

Expected Results:
should have alerted me that the entry's email address wasn't valid, and should
have read all valid email addresses without problem.

no crash, was using the modern theme, tested it on mozilla 1.1, 1.2.1, and 1.3b
(all under windows nt 5.0 err, i mean win2k)
Confirmed on

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030305

I see this if the From address is not (syntactically) valid.

When posting to NGs I set my e-mail address as parish_AT_ntlworld.com as an
anti-spam measure and Moz sends messages quite happily. If I Forward a NG
message the Composition window opens with this munged address in the From field
and, when I send it, Moz crashes with an Access Violation in msgcompo.dll

I'm currently spinning a debug build to try and track this down.

IMHO this bug warrants a higher Severity than minor.

Ignore my banal ramblings in comment 2. This is a different bug. I saw "trashed"
and read "crashed".

I've raised bug 197203 and submitted a patch for the problem I see.
This is still occurring as described in 1.4 Final, except that there is no
problem exiting the Add Address dialog -- one click of Ok and the addresses are
loaded.
