User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 On various Moz builds, esp. 1.1, 1.2.1 and 1.3b, I've occasionally seen SMTP send failure similar to Bug ID 188812. But, I can now reproduce it every time on 1.2.1 and 1.3b using Norton AV 9.05.15. If SSL is used (always or when available under SMTP server preferences), and NAV 9 is scanning outgoing e-mail, NAV 9 will not connect to SMTP server ("encrypted connection detected" message). However, "sending message" dialog of Moz will not close or time-out - I must kill app. under task manager (sometimes freezes whole OS - must shut down computer). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Enable SSL under SMTP (Outgoing server) 2.Use NAV 9 (SystemWorks 2003)to scan outgoing e-mail 3.Send message to a SSL-enabled SMTP server 4. After NAV warning message, try to cancel send or wait for timeout. Actual Results: Hung/Frozen Mozilla - requires application kill under task manager (best case) - forced power down & disk error recovery (worst case) Expected Results: Time out/release, if sending is not successful. MS XP problem notification blames Moz, even thouugh it's at least partly Norton's AV 9's fault. (However: Send using NAV outbound scanning typically fails more gracefully if SMTP server not available). However, prior to installation of NAV 9, Moz 1.1 and 1.2.1 sometimes (not always) showed this behavior if SMTP server was not available, or connectivity was lost in mid-send (i.e. when my dial up went down, as it does frequently). Sorry, no talkback data available (my talkback-enabled builds don't seem to talkback).

Do you have a virus scanner enabled on the computer that Mozilla is running on? If so, what product is it?

Thanks to reporter for confirming in e-mail that he is using Symantec Norton Antivirus 9. (Ack.) This is a duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 145913 ***
