Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:133.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/133.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Received and opened an email containing an animated GIF with endless repeat.
- In the Thunderbird menu, I chose Settings.
- In the Settings search field, I typed "anim"
Actual results:
- The animated GIF endlessly repeated.
- n/a
- There are no preferences to choose to not animate or not repeat animated GIFs.
Expected results:
- Before I set the preference: The animated GIF endlessly repeats.
After I set the preference:
If I set not repeat, it plays once and stops.
If I set not play, it doesn't play. - n/a
- A setting is available, similar to Firefox's image.animation_mode none, once, normal.

Add step 1.5: Download images.
Note: The email actually contained multiple animated GIFs, not just one. While there is sort of a workaround to scroll past (provided the GIFs are not so close together with content in between that I can't avoid them) it's annoying to have to do the extra and fine-tuned scrolling.
