Steps to reproduce:

I create a new mail to anybody
Enter Object, mail text, eventually attachments
Then press "Send" button

Actual results:

A vcf file is added as attachment despite I have no card attached to the account
(.vcf enclosed)

Expected results:

No vcf attached

This started just after last upgrade to v 128.5.2esr

Please confirm the following and report back with info.

  • In Account Settings
  • In left pane select name of account
  • On the right - 'attach my vcard to messages' - please confirm this is not selected.
  • Click on 'Edit card' - please confirm - there is no data and nothing is selected.
  • Click on 'Manage Identities'
  • How many identities are listed ?
  • Select each in turn and click on 'Edit'
  • On 'Settings' tab - is the checkbox 'Attach my vcard to messages' selected ?
  • If yes, uncheck
  • Click on 'OK'
  • When all identities have been checked - click on 'Close'

Test:

  • create email, but this time use 'Send Later'
  • select 'Outbox' folder located in the 'Local Folders' account.
  • Select and open the email - is the vcard showing as attached at this point prior to actual sending?

Post an image of the following:

  • Settings > General
  • scroll to bottom and click on 'Config Editor' button
It opens in a new tab
  • In search type: vcard
  • create image showing all contents and upload so we can see the results.

Here is the screen shot you asked for

Flags: needinfo?(deliriusit)

I confirm all the points for all the accounts :
No attached card on any account (I tried to attach one on an account but I had the 2 .vcf linked and withdraw it after the test)
Only One identity linked for each account non with an attached card

I created an email and postponed with send later. The .vcf file is linked.
Actually, it is linked as soon as I cick on send : before the eventual orthographe checks

The screen shot has been added.

I Did not ask the question in the Thunderbird Support Forum

I tried to uninstall/Reinstall Thunderbird, with a full cleaning of all data but it changed nothing.
Remaining data are still present...

Thanks for your help

Thanks for image showing 'vcard' results in Config Editor.

I notice two accounts have the vcard attached set as True:
mail.identity.id10.attach_vcard = True
mail.identity.id16.attach_vcard = True

Suggest you use the 'Toggle' icon on the right of each line to swap from True to False.

To find out what account is using id10 and id16:
In Config Editor search type: id10
mail.identity.id10.useremail = the email address of account
Repeat the above to find out what account is using id16.

I don't see a bug here. Setting the prefs Anje advised in comment 5 to false should make Thunderbird not send a vcard. Maybe you set them in mistake, but as they are set, there is no mystery of why vcard is sent.
