User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130 If you get a URL via ICQ in a message or chat, you have several options, including "Open in Current Browser Window" and "Open in New Browser Window". If IE or NS4.x is your default browser, these work as expected. If Mozilla is your default browser, both of them do the same thing, opening in current window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Get sent a URL in ICQ 2. Right-click/select "Open in New Browser Window" Actual Results: URL is opened in current browser window Expected Results: URL should be opened in new browser window

Please try again with a more recent build of Mozilla.
Inevitably, same under Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210

What version of ICQ are you using?
2000b Build 3286 It's a feature I've seen on many versions of ICQ, so unless Netscape and IE wrote a different interface for each one of them, it's fair to conclude that some common API is involved here, not something specific to this version.

Reporter: Is this still a problem with a current Mozilla build?
Yes. I've tried a couple of different machines running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040514: Some always open in current browser window, no matter which choice is made. One always opens in new browser windows, no matter which choice is made.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. The latest beta releases can be obtained from: Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/ Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html Seamonkey: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
Still opens always in current window, as of 1.17.12. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915

There is a pref to control this in newer builds of SeaMonkey (the way external links are handled was rewritten). http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/contrib/latest-mozilla1.8/ http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/latest-trunk/ If a newer build still doesn't work, please file a new bug.
