Steps to reproduce:

this happens with only apple, icloud.com servers for me. Not gmail.

  • with an email selected, tag menu > click important.
  • Switch folders and refresh to ensure it's permanent.
  • With that email selected, tag> click remove all tags.
  • Switch folders, refresh and it will come back.
  • With that email selected, tag > click important.
  • switch, refresh, it's gone permanently.

In activity monitor, I see

The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account ...@icloud.com responded: Parse Error (took 0 ms).

Actual results:

The tag stayed

Expected results:

The tag should have been removed.
