I loaded searchfox on top of a youtube tab. The autoplay text stayed in the tab title. See attached screenshot.

Keywords: regression

I'm confused what this has to do with the sidebar, as your screenshot looks to show horizontal tabs. I'll move this to tabbed browser and based on what the regressor was, we'll go from there.

Component: Sidebar → Tabbed Browser

I filed it in sidebar because I assumed it was related to bug 1921060 which is also filed in the sidebar component

QA Whiteboard: [qa-regression-triage]

This bug has been marked as a regression. Setting status flag for Nightly to affected.

:mak could this be triaged for severity?
I'm unsure which versions are affected since there is no regressor. Maybe you might have an idea?

Flags: needinfo?(mak)

I think this is a race condition.
I could reproduce the bug by opening Autoplay, Muted in a new background tab from https://videojs.github.io/autoplay-tests/, then I quickly dragged Simple link to the tab, quickly because otherwise the tab gets focus and the label is removed.
At this point the AUTOPLAY BLOCKED text is stuck in the tab. I can select the tab, load other pages, label remains there.
I reproduced that in Firefox 100, so if this is regression is not recent, or maybe it's not even a regression as it seems an edge case.

Jeff could you please let us know the platform and how you loaded searchfox in that tab, whether you somehow used drag&drop on the tab (even earlier as the state seems to stick)? Can you reproduce this bug easily or did it just happen seldomly?

Flags: needinfo?(jmuizelaar)

I saw this on macOS. I think I just typed searchfox into the url bar to navigate away from YouTube. I don't think I dragged any tabs. I've maybe noticed it once before recently. I don't have steps to reproduce.

Flags: needinfo?(jmuizelaar)

As it doesn't seem particularly common, and it's mostly an annoyance that can be workarounded moving to a new tab, I think this is not a critical priority. It's very likely a race condition in setting the attribute on the tab.
If these reports should become more frequent, then it may be worth re-evaluating.

For now I am removing the regression keyword as I could reproduce a similar happening in Firefox 100, I expect the underlying bug to be the same or equivalent.
