User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030218 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030218 when "Do not load remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages" is set, viewing mail with images and "full HTML mode" can cause images to dissapear: They don't fully disappear... They simply appear as an invisible block -- no border and no 'broken image' icon. I noticed this because I was looking for the link that was bound to an image -- and the image wasn't were I expected it (right justified instead of left). I'll include two sample attachments. a broken-image icon properly appears if you view the email in "simple HTML" mode. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.select preferences/ privacy&security / images/ Do not load remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages 2.find an email with downloaded images 3.try to find where the image should be Actual Results: end up with an invisible block where the image would otherwise be. Expected Results: broken-image icon. and/or border around image placeholder block.
You may have to copy the attached email into a mail folder to view the problem. (Also note: Mozilla will, by default, include images inline. I just edited the raw file to produce the wanted message type )
Summary: images dissapear if "Do not load remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages" set → images dissapear if "Do not load remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages" set

forget the comment : DO not load .. = you block images and this should not display a broken Icon since it's not broken.
Even so, the Alt text should still be displayed.
(SOMETHING visible should be showing up here)
> 3. For ALL other cases (blocked images, images not downloaded in 'Don't
> Load Images' mode, broken images, missing . . . . . we should
> simply insert the alt text directly into the page instead of the image.
