2/17 08 trunk build on win2k

Find a message in a folder which has an excel spreadsheet or similar attachment.
Launch into the app for that file type via the download dialog (content should
have mime type octet stream.) Choose the default application and proceed. Look
in the folder from which you launched this attachment. Sometimes (all the
time?) you will see that the message is now in the thread pane twice rather than
once. Both messages "appear" to be real. (I believe attempting to use both can
lead to a crash, but I'm not certain of that.)

I've marked this critical because it shakes my confidence in the application. I
can't be sure that operations against emails will result in the expected
outcomes when this type of thing is happening.

There *is* a workaround that seems safe. Click into another folder and then
come back and you should find that the ghost entry is gone.
Selmer, it was suggested in Bug 178999 that this bug might be a dupe of that.
Do you think so? Have you seen this symptom with a current build?
There are strong similarities, but I don't know if this is a dup. In the other
bug, changing folders and coming back does not make the symptom go away. Also,
I am not using threaded mode so it's difficult to say if the cause is the same
for both problems.

Adding bienvenu to the CC since he was looking at the other bug.
