User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:134.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/134.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Go to: https://jan-ivar.github.io/dummy/gum_picker_muted.html
- Select (tick in the box) the Camera option
Actual results:
The camera is not detected, nor am I asked to allow access to the camera.
Expected results:
I should see the option to use my build in BisonCam, NB Pro (5986:0536) camera.
I should be able to select the camera and see its output.
I tested this also on Chromium. On Chromium the camera works.
I think that this problem might have started after that I used an external webcam via USB.
This external USB Logitech camera (046d:08d8) is also not detected, and again, it works on Chromium.
I'm using Fedora 41.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::WebRTC: Audio/Video' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks Jan, assuming you have no other camera attached, can you tell me the error code from https://jan-ivar.github.io/dummy/gum_video.html ?
If you could also run the Firefox profiler (using its "Media" profile) in the background while doing so, and uploading the link here that would give us logs.

It sounds like this used to work? To rule out a Firefox regression are you able to confirm this now also happens with older versions of Firefox (pre-134)? If so, then it points to your system. Have you tried the normal things like restarting your computer?

The camera used to work without problems in Jitsi and MS Teams. I'm not sure how to install an old Firefox version.
The error message is: NotAllowedError: The request is not allowed by the user agent or the platform in the current context.
I will try to do a Firefox profiler run. If I'm successful, I will add the details here.
Trying to profile makes Firefox crash: See attached file: Error on Crash.
