Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130

Using Ctrl-L to open a new URL results in "Find as you type" of entered URL
instead of accepting the entered URL in location bar. Typically happens when
using tabbed view and the location bar seems to be already selected (even though
typing doesn't change the selected text in location bar).

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type in a new URL in location bar
2. Use Ctrl-Enter to open URL in new tab
3. Use Ctrl-L again to enter new location

Actual Results:
Text string matching the entered text on page being viewed is selected.

Expected Results:
Text in location bar should have changed as I was typing.
Problem still occurs in Mozilla 1.3
I see this behavior in 1.4 on Linux I think... In 1.3 I could hit ^L (ctrl-l)
and start typing a url. Now I hit ^L and TAB, then I can start typing URL.
Otherwise it does a find in a blank page. If there's a page there already then
it behaves properly. Eg: I just hit ^L and the URL string is highlighted and
typing replaces it.
CC'ing Aaron.
This works for me in current nightly versions of Mozilla, can anyone reproduce this?
FWIW, I haven't encountered this problem for a long time now... I think by
around version 1.5, I've not had it occur.
WFM, according to last two comments in bug.
