This was done on a fresh profile in Nightly on Windows 11.

STR:

  1. Hamburger Menu -> More Tools -> Customize
  2. Remove the flexible spacers on either side of the location bar.
  3. Click "Done".
  4. Navigate to about:preferences.
  5. Under "Browser Layout", click "Vertical Tabs"
  6. Observe the additional space has been introduced between the "Refresh Page" button and the location bar.
  7. Hamburger Menu -> More Tools -> Customize
  8. Attempt to remove the space.

Expected Results:
Space is removed

Actual Results:
Space cannot be removed. Interestingly, it can be moved. I currently have it over on the right side of my toolbar where I like it slightly better. But I'd really rather be able to remove it entirely. Additionally, if you check the "Title Bar" checkbox in the bottom left, the mandatory extra spacing goes away. Which also seems odd.

In the attached screenshot, you can see the unremovable spacer between the refresh button and the location bar.

:Gijs, could you have a look please?
