can not delete more than one email each time mail is opened

After I open mail only one email message can be deleted.  If I close mozilla and
reopen it, I can only delete one email message again.

Expected Results:  
Delete any email message that I manually delete.

I can also confirm this bug although sometimes I can delete two or three before
I have to restart mozilla before I can delete more messages.  Started with
Mozilla 1.3 beta but still occurs with build 2003030717.  I'm using an IMAP
server to retrieve my mail.
