Add "Remane" to bookmarks context menu, so you don't have to select Properties
to do that.

(Not sure if this should go under Bookmarks or Menus.)
Summary: Add "Remane" to bookmarks context menu → Add "Rename" to bookmarks context menu
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166034

What would be the difference?
If you go to BookmarksManager and click Rename it brings up the properties window
If you do the same thing with Properties icon, then it's the same thing.
David, to be clear, you want a Windows Explorer type rename where you can just
type in the field directly? IF its using existing functionality its just going
to the same thing so this would be double UI/bloat/WONTFIX material.
My point is that it's not obvious that you can rename a bookmark by skimming
through the context-menu. I'm fully aware of the fact that the Properties dialog
allows this, but I'm not sure new users would think of that.

I guess it's up to pch.
This was one of the first things I noticed when I switched from Mozilla to
Firebird. If I remember correctly Mozilla has this. I didnt find how to rename
an bookmark (stupid me), when I realized that you could do that via the
Properties (this was *not* obvious to me) I asked myself what was the point to
go through this when as an end-user I would have expected it to be on the
contextmenu.

Properties for me is properties for the bookmark, not where I can find
functionality such as renaming it (though its good you can do it there too...).
taking QA contact, sorry about the bugspam

I'd like to vote that this be implemented, too. I especially like to rename
bookmarks in the link toolbar (not sure that's what it's called, but it's the
part at the top that shops with a "Phoenix Discussions" link in 0.6.1).

Of course, feel free to weigh my vote by the < 20 times I've renamed a bookmark,
but it would definitely be nice to have. :-)
If we're going to do this, instead of Rename being a duplicate to Properties,
maybe have Windows Explorer style renaming where you just type the name in.
Otherwise its silly UI
I also think that a rename option should be added. Although Firebird is not
explorer, if you guys want Firebird to be widely adopted then there is a clear
case for keeping a windows style interface, which will appeal to those users who
are unhappy with ie but not confident to learn a whole new browser approach.
Perhaps if people are really opposed to microsoft then they could use a skin
whilst version 1 can be designed for general users?
I have to disagree. I've always liked Firefox's uncluttered menu style; it's
quicker to find things. I never had any problems with properties; it seemed the
only place it could be, and was he first place I tried. Even so, it's not hard
to go to Help. I think it's reasonably safe to assume we're targetting the
minimally tech capable audience. I don't think we should copy every bad UI
decision IE makes.

sorry for bugspam, long-overdue mass reassign of ancient QA contact bugs, filter on "beltznerLovesGoats" to get rid of this mass change

WONTFIX. We now have better UI int he organizer for this, and in the star case. Otherwise, properties is good enough.
