Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:136.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/136.0

Steps to reproduce:

post a bug

Actual results:

reporter: support

Expected results:

reporter: jaborandi

note: in the top-left corner of the comments (and the bug description) user is correctly indicated by their username. this is only the problem with fields in "People" section

note: i'm not even represented by a full email - just by the NON-UNIQUE part of it before the @ - such representation is nearly useless

Summary: in People section (in reporter and other fields) user is represented not by their username, but by the user part of their email address → in People section (in reporter and other fields) user is represented not by their username, but by a non-unique part of their email address

This looks like it's a Mozilla customization, so moving to their queue.

We cannot display the full "real name" in that location of the UI as a lot of users have very long values in that field that include their status as well and their name (the longest legit name I see is 114 characters!).

As you haven't provided a nickname (see the note about nicknames on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/userprefs.cgi) we instead display the user portion of your email address - support in your case.

If you changed your real name to :jaborandi it will display as per your request.

:glob thank you - the account/profile is super confusing in this regard... since there's no any id in the account whatsoever except for what is in the "real name" field, and there i had my username, i was hesitant to change it

I 100% agree it's sub-optimal; it's something we plan on addressing at some point, however we are yet to find the time.
