Would I be able to get editwhine privileges? I'm the release manager for Thunderbird.

You already have the ability to create/edit whines; here's the direct link: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/editwhines.cgi (normally you'd navigate to this via the "Administration" page).

Resolution: --- → WORKSFORME

I've just updated the config so all Thunderbird employees can configure whines; bringing it into alignment with other Mozilla employees.
