I just got a performance alert for Bug 1951367, and now I have to wait while I manually trigger performance profiles. This is even worse given the 3 business day threat from the alert of a backout, which is not much time to action on it. It's not intuitive how to go from an alert to how you generate a performance profile.

The message in the alert is:

If you need the profiling jobs you can trigger them yourself from treeherder job view or ask a sheriff to do that for you.

However, this doesn't link to documentation on how to do it for real. It would be really nice to just have a performance profile with the alert so I can immediately see what is going on with the changes. The bare minimum would be to document how to get one, as the current documentation is not sufficient.

How I triggered the performance profile:

  • Click 14% from the Ratio column
  • Click a dot in the graph
  • Click "job"
  • Click "Generate performance profile"
Severity: -- → S2
Priority: -- → P2
