When vertical tabs mode is enabled, users are far more likely to end up in this bad middle ground where horizontal space isn't restricted enough to trigger 2-line results mode but still restricted enough that they're seeing significantly less of the URL and page title in awesomebar results compared to the normal default horizontal tabs mode. This has been quite a downgrade to the user experience. One solution could be: adjust when 2-line results mode is triggered so that it happens sooner than it current does. The other solution would be to significantly reduce the amount of horizontal padding and perhaps relocating a button or two to the menu. Firefox currently has far more horizontal padding than is necessary for right-clicking or window dragging and in vertical tabs mode it's resulting in real problems to the user experience.
(in the attached screenshot comparison, vertical tabs mode is on top, horizontal tabs mode is on bottom.)
