User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.3b) Gecko/20030210 It would be very desirable to be able to share information among profiles. I don't mean importing information from one profile to another, but dynamically sharing it, and being able to specify what is the specific information that should different between two profiles. Example: I created a profile for using my laptop in the office, and another profile to use it at home. I would like to have only three differences between these two profiles: - POP server - SMTP server - Proxy for http, ftp, etc. I would like to be able to share, between the two profiles, the mail folders, address book, learned junk detection parameters, bookmarks, font settings, etc. - in summary, everything except the three items above. Now, for example, if I add a new address to the address book, in one of the profiles, it doesn't appear in the other one. The same if I add a new bookmark. Junk detection learned in one of the profiles also isn't available in the other one. Other people might have similar, but not exactly equal needs. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (this is just an example) 1. Create two profiles, say "p1" and "p2" 2. Select profile "p1" 3. Create an address book entry 4. Now select profile "p2" Actual Results: The address book entry that was created in step 3. is not available in profile "p2". Expected Results: I'd like to be able to specify which items of information are to be shared between "p1" and "p2" (like address book entries, for example).
you already can customize locations of profile files by editing the prefs.js file in your profile directory: mail folders - yes address book - yes training.dat (junk file) - no bookmarks - yes (bug 31623, see also bug 104184) font settings -- no, but overdoing it? see http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=avqlk3%24eap4%40ripley.netscape.com also http://www.hmetzger.de/etips6.html
