Preconditions

  • Firefox is launched.
  • browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled = true

Steps to reproduce

  1. Navigate to https://www.reddit.com/
  2. Hover over a link from the page and press the "Alt" key on the keyboard.

Expected result

  • Key points are not generated, as the site does not support Reader View mode.

Actual result

  • Key points are generated in the Link Preview.

Regression range

  • Not a regression, as this is a new implementation. The issue reproduces on the first build available (17.03.2025) that includes the Link Preview feature.

Additional notes

  • Based on our understanding, key points should only be generated for websites that support Reader View mode.

bug 1956528 added additional checks like reader mode although, and i believe for the reddit example, it results in the error state
