When I click the sign in button on ssa.gov I am sent to https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.action instead of a login page; this works fine on Chrome.

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:137.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/137.0

Steps to reproduce:

Went to https://ssa.gov and clicked on sign in button on Win 11.

This works fine on Chrome where I go to a sign in page.

Actual results:

Sent to https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.action with text
Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

Expected results:

Should go to a sign in page. On Chrome, I am directed to the sign in page.

Looks like the service has office hours, so I get a page with the opening time right now.

Does it work if you start Firefox in Troubleshoot mode?

The behavior is identical in Troubleshoot mode.

Looks like the sign in is open again.

When clicking, I get redirected to https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.action and I see 3 buttons to log in, so I assume it's working as expected.

Moving to Networking to see if they can help investigate.

I am not able to reproduce either.

Does this happen with a fresh profile?
Does this happen with ETP disabled?

If so, are you able to collect some http logs?

The easiest way to collect logs is to navigate to about:logging, select logging to a file and start logging. Then reproduce the behaviour. You can then email to necko@mozilla.com.

Thanks!
