I understand things like this should typically be posted on Mozilla Connect but there's so many complaints and requests about this that I thought I'd just file it to save Firefox devs some time and speed things along: give users the option to kind of "flip" the current vertical tabs behaviour so that the new tab button is fixed at the top, and when you click it, the new tab opens directly below the new tab button (pushing down the other tabs). After reading many, many posts (and being a long time vertical tabs user myself) I made and attached mock of what people are asking for.
Also here is a partial list of people requesting this or complaining about it. (there are many more tweets and comments in forums & reddit about wanting the new tab button at the top but I can't list them all, I'm sure you get the idea)

I did not check the security checkbox, there seems to be an issue with bugzilla...

If there are "many complaints and requests" you can be sure it was not missed. Posting it here does not "speed things along" because it jumps right over the designers who make these decisions and puts it in front of the engineers who will then ignore it because it violates the design they were given to implement.
I was not aware there was already a bug for this, it did not come up when I searched. Thank you for linking to it.
