User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:138.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/138.0
Steps to reproduce:
Updated from firefox developer edition 137 to 138
Actual results:
No desktop file is created, or a desktop file is created in the wrong location, which shows firefox in the GNOME dock as an application without an icon, with the name "firefox-dev"
Expected results:
A desktop file should be created, pointing to an icon, with a prettified name (i.e. Firefox Developer Edition, rather than firefox-dev)

apologies, the screencap doesn't show the tooltip over firefox. the hovered icon is the active firefox instance, and the correct firefox icon is pinned, and presumably left over from a previous update. clicking on this icon opens firefox correctly, but opens it as a seperate instance. has the WMClass changed? this would have this effect

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Bug 1835135 may be related but I'm not aware of any changes there recently. You can use env variable to set Firefox application name to match it with desktop bu AFAIK we removed is as it breaks Firefox/Thunderbird cooperation.
