User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:136.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/136.0
Steps to reproduce:
When I receive an ics file attached for an event, the file is not shown as so, but as a part of the message itself.
Actual results:
Although It is only possible to know that the message has an attachment, one can only reach it by clicking "forward", as it is not shown as an attachment, nor as an event (which should bring a whole new pane).
Expected results:
- The event panel should have been displayed after recognizing a calendar invitation, as it has always been.
- The attached file should be visible at the main panel.

I'm not fully clear on what the issue is here. Is the ics attachment not accessible from the original email?
Thanks for the question, Corey, it’s a tricky one.
Until the most recent update, I had been receiving e-mail calendar invitations as .ics files without any issues. Since the update, when a message contains a .ics file, I still see the paperclip icon indicating an attachment, but the file itself is rendered within the body of the email. This happens regardless of whether I'm viewing messages in HTML or plain text, and even if I disable the option to display attachments inline.
The only way I’ve found to access the .ics file is by clicking “Forward.” In the message edit window, the attachment then becomes downloadable, although still not openable directly within Thunderbird. From there, I can save and import it into other calendar applications.
It's also good to say that the same happens with old messages containing .ics files, with calendar invitations that I have already processed in the past, so it doesn't look like a problem with them.

Thanks for the additional clarification. To clarify more, it sounds like the paper clip is show in the message list, but not showing along with the attachment at the bottom of the message body. That is indeed strange behavior. Unfortunately I'm unable to recreate it on my Ubuntu installation with Thunderbird 137.0.1
Are you using any add-ons? If so, could you try with them disabled?

Most likely what you're looking at has a different MIME structure.
Please attach a sample message (as .eml) showing the issue.

Indeed, I'm using Google Calendar Provider. I'll review the list of previously sent invites, but that solved the problem as far I can see.

Unless you need tasks, you can just use the built-in CalDAV support to access your google calendar instead.
