Verified on the latest Firefox for Nightly 139.0a1 from 4/22 with the following devices:

  • Google Pixel 6 (Android 16),
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 (Android 14),
  • OnePlus 5 (Android 10),
  • Oppo Find N2 Flip (Android 14),
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra (Android 14),
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 9),
  • HTC 10 (Android 8),
  • Oppo Find X3 Lite (Android 11,
  • Google Pixel (Android 10), and
  • Vivo v23 (Android 14) - the screenshot is from this device - there is no "Pause/play" option displayed, the user has to tap on where it is supposed to be the option.

Also, on Xiaomi Mi8 Lite (Android 10) - there is no "Pause/play" option displayed, no matter where I tap inside the PiP area, the video cannot be paused. The workaround is to exit PiP and pause it.

On the latest Focus for android, using PiP still crashes the app.

I also checked the available devices, and found two tablet devices on which the behavior doesn’t seem right:

  • on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (Android 9) I noticed that the video screen is cut on the sides, leaving the fullscreen and the play buttons out of reach, this I couldn’t reproduce more than once;
  • On a Redmi Pad SE (Android 12) I also discovered incorrectness on the page layout but in this case the whole page was aligned to the left, and empty space was left on the right side of the page. This behavior was the same on Samsung tablet after the zoom issue didn’t reproduce anymore (the tablets are in desktop mode by default now so this might be a desktop site issue);
  • On both devices after triggering the Picture in Picture mode, only the top of the video was displayed on the bottom of the PiP screen:

This is how YouTube is displayed in desktop mode (default on tablets)

The patch landed in nightly and beta is affected.
