User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:139.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/139.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Save user name and password for a site in Nightly (Ex: https://target.com)
- Set toolbar to the top (optional step ?)
- Open Private tab with that site and log in using the saved password from the drop down
Actual results:
I get logged in into the site but the Saved passwords
stays permanently on at the bottom of the screen. Only switching tabs and/or reloading can get rid off the dropdown.
Expected results:
I get logged in into the site and no Saved passwords
dropdown is visible on screen.
This behaviour started sometime during 138 cycle.

Thank you for the report!
I was unable to reproduce the issue on a Xiaomi Mi8 Lite (Android 10), and on a Google Pixel 6 (Android 16).
Tested on Firefox for Android 137.0.2, 138.0, and Nightly 139.0a1.
Could you provide us the following:
- the device you have encountered this issue on?
- if this is 100% reproducible?
- is it reproducible only in private mode?
- is it reproducible on other websites?
(In reply to Mira Lobontiu (Android QA) from comment #1)
Hi!
This issue occurs 100% on any site where I have a login saved in FF. It happens both on an Android 9 device and on Pixel8 API 34 emulator I just installed the Nightly on. See attachment.
Steps to reproduce:
- Have a user name and password saved in FF for a site
- Use Private tab on the browser. Optionally, have
Open links in a private tab
underPrivate browsing
turned on. - Go to the site and try to login. When asked for email/user name use credentials from
Saved passwords
dropdown. Login to the site. - Observe that
Saved passwords
dropdown remains displayed at the bottom of the browser. Even navigating within the tab will not dismiss the dropdown. Only changing to another tab and coming back will make theSaved passwords
dropdown disappear.
There is another issue with the toolbar becoming white after using Saved passwords
dropdown but I filed bug 1961750 for that.
Let me know if I can provide more info.

Thank you for the extra details!
I was able to reproduce this issue today, only when using a VPN connected to US, and indeed only in private mode.
This step does not need to be executed: "Optionally, have Open links in a private tab under Private browsing turned on."
Reproducible on all Firefox for Android versions: 138.0, Beta 138.0b9, and Nightly 139.0a1 from 4/23, with an OnePlus 5 (Android 10) device.
I'll confirm the issue.
Feel free to add additional websites which have similar characteristics: the username/email on one page, and the password field on a second page. Because when the username and password are on the same page, this issue is not reproducible on my end.

Here is a site that separates user name / password input: https://www.jewelosco.com. It's a big grocery chain that offers weekly specials. As I mentioned before, most sites would trigger this behavior; Bugzilla login behaves the same as well.
Upon further testing, I don't think completing logging in is required. Modified steps:
- Save email/user name and password for a given site in FF
- Open Private tab
- Focus User name field on a login form on the site. Observe that
Saved passwords
is shown at the bottom of the screen. - Simply close login form or click on any link on the page
Saved passwords
remains visible after the login form is gone- Locking the device or sending FF into background and bring it back makes
Saved passwords
disappear
