Steps to reproduce:

Installed Firefox on new laptop, extensions and theme matches what's on the old one
Went into hamburger menu > Settings > Sync and added device
Signed in
attempted Sync Now

Actual results:

Nothing. No new tabs opened.

Expected results:

Brought in open windows, tabs, bookmarks, etc. from Firefox on my old laptop (Lenovo Flex 5 on Win 10) to new laptop (Asus Vivobook Pro 15 on Win 11)

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Sync' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Thanks for filing this report! Are you still experiencing this issue? From the logs it looks like most engines were still syncing. We also don't migrate open windows (those will most likely show up in synced tabs menu in the Avatar button on the toolbar or in the hamburger menu).

Open Tabs is mentioned under Sync which leads me as a user to expect my open tabs to be duplicated on my new laptop. I did, however, thanks to a response below, find Send tab to device underneath my avatar.

Yesterday, I found this method that I was using by right-clicking the bookmarks under the Open Tabs folder I created and opening them in a new tab on my new laptop. It's rather clunky though.

Since it says Open Tabs under Sync I expected to see them opened on my new laptop. I never think to look underneath my avatar for anything but account info or management. I did see there is a Send tab to device which will open the tab on the new laptop though. Thanks for mentioning looking under the avatar. I put a bit more info with the screen capture I submitted. So perhaps this is more of a usability / information architecture issue related to navigation in the GUI.

I'm finding if I right-click a tab and choose Select All Tabs then click my avatar and** Send [X] tabs to device** that it sends them all over, but they open out of order from how they were in the machine they were sent from. They land in whatever window I have active so I'm able to create my new windows full of tabs that way - I just have to reorder the tabs to match what they were originally.

Thanks for the report - this is challenging because for every user who would like what you describe, there are probably more who would not want that - particularly when you take mobile devices into account. Regardless, this is being tracked in bug 1540208 so I'll mark this as a dupe of that.
