I need to close TB and restard.
Does Thunderbird "freeze" (get unresponsive) so that you have to force-quit the application via the menu?
As I told you in the linked SUMO page this behaviour would not be considered as a "crash".
When this happens do you see the "spinning wheel" or "beach-ball" ? Did you survey the memory consumption in Activity Monitor?
Did you try Thunderbird's "troubleshoot mode" or did you test Thunderbird in a new profile as I suggested in your SUMO question?

I've had notifications enabled in 138 beta on a Mac and not seen this issue.
