User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030307
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030308
Ever since Mozilla 1.3b, I can no longer use my Thawte Freemail certificate to
digitally sign email.
I get an error message when clicking on the Select... button saying that
"Certificaet Manager can't locate a valid certificate that can be used to
digitally sign your messages." Even though it is listed there right next to the
button. I also can't read any encrypted email.
If I close Mozilla 1.3 and start up 1.3a everything works just fine. I can sign
and encrypt email just fine.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to open encrypted email or try to select a certificate in preferences.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
I get an error message saying "Certificaet Manager can't locate a valid
certificate that can be used to digitally sign your messages."
Expected Results:
Allowed me to select the certificate so I can read and send encrypted email.
I first noticed this after installing 1.3b and it has not been fixed in the 1.3
release candidate.

Reproducible with latest 1.3 branch
To reproduce:
1. Obtain Thawte Freemail cert from: http://www.thawte.com/html/COMMUNITY/personal/
2. Upgrade to latest 1.3 branch
3. Launch Mail/Newsgroups and Select Edit|Mail&Newsgroups Account Settings
4. Select Security option for mail account (Security page opens and shows Thawte
Freemail Member's Thawte ID Certs for both Digital Signing and Encryption.)
5. Choose the Select Button
Results:
You're prompted with the "Certificaet Manager can't locate a valid certificate
that can be used to digitally sign your messages."
Upgrade problem...
Go to Netscape|Preferences|Privacy&Security|Certificates
Select Manage Certificates button
Results:
"Your Certificates" Tab doesn't list the Thawte Freemail Member Cert
The Thawte cert wasn't picked up during upgrade to 1.3
If you re-import your Thawte Freemail Cert, then go back to steps 3 through 5,
you should be able to send signed and encrypted mail.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Thanks! That helped. I started up Mozilla 1.3a, backed up my certificate,
quit, started up Mozilla 1.3 and imported the certificate. Everything seems
fine now.
