User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021226 Debian/1.2.1-9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021226 Debian/1.2.1-9 When having a file link as bookmark which refers to a remote file (using auto-mounting in my case) and this file is not accesible instantly, the browser freezes during the delay. That is not so bad, if you directly know why this is happening. So the minimal solution in my opinion would be to provide some progress information if a delay occurs (like "trying to access file:///..."). It would be even much better, if a possibility to interrupt the action was provided. [I do not know the reason why the file has to be accessed when opening the bookmark folder anyway] Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a "file:///" bookmark which refers to a file on another computer in the network 2. Disconnect that computer 3. Open the bookmark folder that that bookark is contained in (note: you do _not_ have to open the bookmark itself) either in the side bar or the tool bar Actual Results: Browser freezes (maybe it unfreezes whenever the timeout for the underlying file system is reached, I have not waited long) Expected Results: Show at least what it is doing, so the user gets feed back on which action the browser froze Even better: Provide a possiblity to interrupt accessing the file or to turn off the verification (or whatever it is) totally.
