User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Build Identifier: Gekko/2003/03/12
The Table in the example should display as a 4x4 table with the cell position
in each cell:
---------------------
|1, 1|1, 2|1, 3|1, 4|
---------------------
|2, 1|2, 2|2, 3|2, 4|
-----| |----------
|3, 1|3, 2|3, 3|3, 4|
|-------------------|
|4, 1|4, 2|4, 3|4, 4|
---------------------
This is as per http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/tables.html#h-11.2.6 in
the definitions of the rowspan attribute:
"...The value zero ("0") means that the cell spans all rows from the current
row to the last row of the table section (THEAD, TBODY, or TFOOT) in which the
cell is defined."
The current behaviour is to incorrectly treat rowspan=0 as rowspan=1.
I have seen no browser that conforms to this aspect of the HTML standard.
Let's make Mozilla the first! :)
[Kudos on already noticing the problem with colspan!]
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit the sample web page. If it does not display as described, it is
rendered incorrectly.
Actual Results:
The following table is produced:
---------------------
|1, 1|1, 2|1, 3|1, 4|
---------------------
|2, 1|2, 2|2, 3|2, 4|
| |3, 2| | |
---------------------
|3, 1|3, 3|3, 4|
|--------------------
|4, 1|4, 2|4, 3|4, 4|
---------------------
Expected Results:
Expected this table:
---------------------
|1, 1|1, 2|1, 3|1, 4|
---------------------
|2, 1|2, 2|2, 3|2, 4|
-----| |----------
|3, 1|3, 2|3, 3|3, 4|
|-------------------|
|4, 1|4, 2|4, 3|4, 4|
---------------------

Verified. Testing standards compliance in quirks mode is pointless. See
http://www.mozilla.org/docs/web-developer/quirks/quirklist.html tables section.
