Consumes all resources that require a hard boot. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. start mozilla 2. 3. Actual Results: mozilla hangs and consumes all resources. Expected Results: no crash No start page, no proxy, no pipelining. Clean install, but using Mozilla 1.2.1 as profile. XUL.mfl was delected before clean install. Rebooted before install. See bug 188456 for my background on 1.3x crashes.
Galen, could you try with a clean profile and see if you can reproduce this problem?

Summary: fatal crashing causing all resource consumption on moz startup → hang causing all resource consumption on moz startup
Found a way to cause 100% failure rate! I back tracked my steps and found a higher crash rate after closing Exodus {jabber client]. I then was able to create a 100% failure rate with an existing and NEW profile if I had Exodus running before I launched Mozilla. Moz hangs at Profile Manager. 3 reboots and the same fatal crash. Exodus is here http://exodus.jabberstudio.org/ http://www.jabberstudio.org/projects/exodus/bugs/ it uses SSL and XML
Thanks for that last comment Galen! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 155555 ***
