User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030317
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030317
On California's Department of Motor Vehicles Website for special customized
license plate ordering (https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/PerLicensePlateServlet), you
choose the Type of Vehicle (Auto, Commercial, Trailer, or Motorcycle). No
matter what you choose in Mozilla, after you hit the "next" button and go to the
next page, it will show that you chose "Trailer" by saying "Trailer is your Type
Vehicle selected." Which is incorrect. The entire plate ordering form won't
work after this.
This site works fine on IE6 as well as on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT
5.1; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030306.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mozilla.
2. Go to https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/PerLicensePlateServlet
3. Choose the type of vehicle, click yes or no on the next question.
4. Choose a plate, such as "Reflective"
5. Hit Next
6. The next screen will show "trailer" no matter which type of vehicle you
choose. The entire form will no longer work.
Actual Results:
The custom plate ordering system breaks. And the website will return a:
System Unavailable
The Special Interest License Plate Internet Ordering System is currently
unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, please
contact your local field office for assistance.
But it's not the websites fault.
Expected Results:
Chose the correct vehicle type you actually chose... instead of choosing
"Trailer" for you every single time.
I chose "Critical" for severity as this *may* cause loss of data on other forms.
I did not experience any loss of data.

The only thing that is being lost here is one form input on one website, so not
critical.
Severity: critical → normal

Worksforme, Linux trunk build 2003-03-17-05. Perhaps it really was a transient
error with the site?

Conrad, are you still able to reproduce this problem in a recent Mozilla build?
I just tried with yesterday's nightly build on Win 2000 and the California DMV
site worked fine. I chose Auto as my type of vehicle, and it was never changed
to Trailer. Boris is right, this was probably a bug in the website's code that
they have now fixed. Any new information you have would be appreciated.

The problem was fixed several builds later. I tried again with (yesterday's)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20030926 and it
was fine as well. Thanks everyone. This bug can be marked closed.
