I disagree. Compressing data and then writing it to a local disk usually takes
longer than writing the data uncompressed, so doing this will likely hinder
performance.

keith: sure, if space is not a factor. however, this bug is about adding a
build time option to mozilla to optionally compress cached content so as to
improve the density of the cache on space-starved systems. i seriously doubt
the mainstream mozilla client will enable this option.

as we start to do the testing on target devices it seems we are up against
processor speed limitations more than with memory constraints... this might
help to guide what we do with this bug in upcoming work and would suggest that
we downgrade the priority of this one
