Summary: compress cache data → [minimo] compress cache data
I disagree. Compressing data and then writing it to a local disk usually takes longer than writing the data uncompressed, so doing this will likely hinder performance.
keith: sure, if space is not a factor. however, this bug is about adding a build time option to mozilla to optionally compress cached content so as to improve the density of the cache on space-starved systems. i seriously doubt the mainstream mozilla client will enable this option.

as we start to do the testing on target devices it seems we are up against processor speed limitations more than with memory constraints... this might help to guide what we do with this bug in upcoming work and would suggest that we downgrade the priority of this one
