Instead they follow the standard IMAP procedure of leaving them in the Inbox but marking them as deleted. However, if Moz is set to move messages to the Trash folder when they are deleted, if it find any messages marked as deleted in the Inbox then it destroys them instead of moving them to the Trash folder. This is causing messages I delete in other IMAP clients to be irrecoverably lost each time I use MozMail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
this is invalid - you need to configure mozilla not to move messages to the trash, but rather, to show deleted messages. Then, we won't do an expunge. Go into the account settings for your imap server and pick the "mark as deleted" option for when I delete messages. You can't have your cake and eat it too, i.e., have a trash folder when running mozilla, and not expect it to occasionally expunge the inbox.
