I'm not trying to be a pain here - I am just not a programmer and cannot assist
in any way but by filing ongoing *MAJOR* problems:
     I edit my bookmarks in any way, delete, add, change properties, move, file,
etc. I shut down browser. Restart to find changes unsaved. 1) while as I said I
cannot program beyond 'hello world' anymore, this impresses me as both a
CRITICAL and FAIRLY EASY fix by activating a "save bookmark file as-is" either
as changes are made, at end of a bookmark editing session, with a menue or
pop-up item (Save Changes?) or when browser is closed. Willing to test betas and
make suggestions, write doc. Cannot volunteer more to solving this problem.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open browser
2.change bookmark in any way
3.shut down browser
4. restart and seek changed bookmark

Actual Results:  
all changes lost

Expected Results:  
saved changes

Browser is running as stand-alone browser with mail and newsgroups handled
respectively by Eudora and Agent (NOTE: I am slightly annoyed at privacy
violations reported by ZaPro by website - If you could not grab it I'm
[e-mail]

Bug is MAJOR because broken function has been *expected* to work since Mosaic days

I've never had this problem on any build using both Win98 and Linux.
Are you sure you have write permissions to the bookmarks.html file in your
profile directory (something like c:\Documents and Settings\Mozilla\[profile
name]\[random string].slt\)? Otherwise you may like to try a newer build, since
bookmark handling has recently been substantially updated.

I also don't understand the commment relating to ZaPro.

similar problem occurs on macho build (2003040608). close and reopen mozilla
would lose the editing in previous session.

In addition, export bookmark in 'manage bookmark' doesn't work; it doesn't
create the file.

This problem shouldn't occur in the latest linux and windows builds.

Please try the latest build:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/

There is a existing bug on the OS X build for Comment #2
