After a clean install of recent trunk build (tatest tried was 2003032908),
Mozilla lunches and asks for a profile to use and after creating one if we want
it to be the default brwser; no matter what the option we choose, and creating
the default profile in the default directory or another location, it freezes and
eats 100% of CPU.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Setup
2.Create Profile
3.Click one of the buttons for default browser preference

Actual Results:  
Freeded and gone on 100% CPU

Expected Results:  
Should browse and not freeze nor eat CPU to 100%

This should have been fixed by the patch in bug 140995.

I reviwed that bug before filling this one, and it didn't seem to me it was the
same: no matter which option I choose about beeing the defult, it "locks up"
allways.

I've made a few more tests with the latests trunk builds and 1.4a too: I can
start Mozilla from the comand line with the -mail switch, make all the "default
browser settings" I want, open Composer, Venkman, DOM Inspector, Compose Mail,
IRC Chat, Address Book and Search Message windows, and even open web pages with
Composer. But the moment I open thw Browser Window, it hangs and eats up CPU
like hell. I've tried with and without plugins, on and offline, and nothing. I
just can't use it. Snif.

The freeze cause is very likely related to the creation of the new profile files.

Adding to my last comment, these are the files that are created. If I can manage
to put the others in the profile, is starts OK.

Hi Felipe. Are you still having problems with Mozilla hanging on startup in
recent builds? If so, have you tried completely deleting the old Mozilla
installation folder before installing the new version to a fresh, empty
directory? Sometimes extensions or plugins are incompatible with a new major
version and can cause problems like the one you're describing. Any new
information would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello, Jon. I've just tried with builds 2003-10-07-16-1.5, 2003-10-08-16-1.4.1
and 2003-10-09-04-trunk, and all, with a clean install, preformed with no
problems; adding the plugins files to the plugins directory after install had no
consequences. As far as I'm concerned, everything is OK.
