Details
File - Close Tab (menu item) and accel+W are active in print preview. tested on
mac os x 10.2.4 and win2k (2003.03.31).
1. have at least 2 tabbed browsers open in a window.
2. select File - Print Preview.
3. either hit accel+W or File - Close Tab (latter only available in Mac).
results: the current tab is closed, print preview persists but now displays next
tab contents.
expected: not sure --should close simply behave like the close button in print
preview (close print preview and return to normal browsing state)?
for comparison, also see bug 189031.

Ave on #firebird and I agree with sairuh that ctrl+w should exit print preview
mode without closing the tab, in part because the toolbar button for that action
is labeled "Close".

I see the same behaviour in Mozilla 1.7.3
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 (This is a 32
bit build on a 64 bit kernel).
Additionally, I always get "You cannot print while in print preview" if I try to
print something after I closed a tab in print preview, even if I have long since
left the print preview.
I think this bug is gone in Mozilla 1.8.
Bug 245024 solved it.
