I tried going to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/ and clicked the triangles on several of the directories listed there. This gave me several spinning circle icons next to the ones I clicked. Then I hit the stop button and saw the following problems: - The animations stopped spinning, but didn't revert back to the triangles. They were just frozen circles. - Clicking on a different triangle after that just gave me a recessed rectangle where the circle icon should go. Looks like the image was failing to load. - Ftp seemed to be frozen at that point.

warren, what build are you using? I was seeing this a few days ago, but not now.

It sounds like there's a lot going on here. I've got a checkin coming up (waiting for the tree to open) that will fix a situation in which FTP chokes on dir expansion (probably what you're experiencing.?) The frozen circle situation is some sort of directory.js issue (perhaps not responding appropriately to the OnStop().?

I still see this. Not only does that site break, but it you can't do any more ftp action the whole session. A re-start is necessitated. The key to reproducing this is to press stop while the fancy arrows are going around. I reproduced at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org and clicking on pub and then hitting stop pretty fast.

paulmac: i can't reproduce this in today's build, mostly because the "Stop" button never enables. warren, jud: is -that- a bug?

yep, it looks like the stop button doesn't show up when clicking on the triangle

Maybe Jud is missing something that's supposed to add the ftp channel to the load group. That causes the animation to start, and allows for cancellation.

ftp channel is added to load group. stop button enabled when the dir listing doc is spinning/opening a dir is a problem between the xul doc and the UI interaction.

I didn't catch why this is an OJI bug. Sorry, I'm clueless here: why is it an OJI bug?

BugPing: I can't reproduce this anymore on Linux 2000-10-19-06 Trunk, despite numerous other problems with the FTP tree widget. Perhaps time to shoot this bug where it stands. Why is this OJI? Surely that puts it on the wrong radar.
