User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401 Hi, This problem was present in 1.3B and 1.4A. Not an issue with 1.3a or on Windows XP. Seems to happen only with Windows 2000. When I hit send after composing message I get the following: The instruction at 0x61dde24b references memory at "0x0000001". The memory could not be written. Click ok to terminate program. CRASH Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Compose Window 2.Compose Message 3. Hit Send Actual Results: Get error message as noted about. Program shuts down when I hit OK. Quick Launch Icon disappears. Expected Results: Errm send message No talkback available as it just crashes.
Do you use the spellchecker ?
yes i do...does that create the problem?
what i mean : disable pipelining, clear the disk cache and try it again.
I see this too. I just disable "Spellcheck before send" and the crash stops. 2003041804 win32
the proper way to fix this in win2k is to first remove the spell check from the moz directory (Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\components). remove myspell directory, myspell.dll, spelchecker.xpt, & spellchk.dll from the folder. get the latest xpi install from mozdev for your machine and the latest moz version you are running. and then it works fine.
The latest 1.4a spellcheck builds are still crashing the nightlies.
I am seeing this as well. I also checked back nightlies. The 4-16 Win-32 nightly does not cause the crash and the 4-17 and on do. I am willing to test this if thats needed. Ask if you need any other information.
does not block development
Severity: blocker → critical
potential dupes: bug 202194, bug 201301 ?
There's a new 1.4b spellchecker build at http://spellchecker.mozdev.org/installation.html Stopped my crashes with the current nightlies.
marking INVALID. this was a spellchecker bug, not a Mozilla one

For future referece, how does one determine the cause of a spellchecker crash? There may be cases where it very well may be a Moz bug due to an interface change or secondary cause.
