Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030401

i have Middle-click set to open a new tab however when i try
to middle-click a link in the sidebar, nothing happens.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Enable tabbed browsing
2.Enable sidebar
3.Try to middle-click (to open it in a new tab) a link from the sidebar

Expected Results:
middle-click in sidebar should open a new tab

A possible workaround is to first explicitly open a new tab and then click
on the link in the sidebar.

Reproducible with same Mozilla release *without* Multizilla.
A more simple workaround is to right-click on the link and choose "open in a
new tab" wich works.

Relation to bug 202392 or bug 202224 ?

vinay, is this the history sidebar or the bookmarks sidebar?
One does replace the tab, the other not work at all for me...

Well I upgraded to :

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030728 Mozilla
Firebird/0.6.1

and it seems to have been fixed. I can use the middle button to open a new tab
both from the bookmarks tab and history tab.

Well, this bug is about Mozilla (the suite) and it's still valid there...

Not sure I understand but I'll assume you are right :)

Well, you said you're using Firebird/0.6.1 now. The Firebird browser user
interface is different from the interface of the full Mozilla suite (Moz 1.6).
So on Firebird this bug might not exist, while it still is in Mozilla 1.6.

This bug exists on Firefox as of Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US;
rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041106 Firefox/1.0, at least with the Bugzilla sidebar
bookmark addon. Middle clicking attempts to scroll around the sidebar, instead
of opening a new tab. Middle clicking a bunch of times sometimes opens the
link, but not in a new tab. Also, the context menu of the Bugzilla sidebar
gives the option to 'Copy Email Address' and 'Copy Link Location' regardless of
whether or not a link is being right clicked, and both of these context menu
options do nothing.

bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
