How are you opening about:? What's your pref setting for whether it should open in a separate window?
------- Additional Comment #1 From Boris Zbarsky 2003-04-05 11:29 ------- How are you opening about:? What's your pref setting for whether it should open in a separate window? Don't understand that. Just want about: to have smaller font, dinosaur gone, Splash Screen in. Toolbar not showing with about: What pref are you talking about?
There is a preference for how the about: information is shown -- in the browser, or in a separate window. And you did not answer my first question -- are you typing "about:" in the URL bar, or are you selecting "About Mozilla" from the "Help" menu?
------- Additional Comment #3 From Boris Zbarsky 2003-04-05 11:46 ------- There is a preference for how the about: information is shown -- in the browser, or in a separate window. And you did not answer my first question -- are you typing "about:" in the URL bar, or are you selecting "About Mozilla" from the "Help" menu? I'm doing both. Usually, Abouts are small, but Mozilla's almost uses the whole screen
You can stop quoting what I say... ;) What is the value of browser.show_about_as_stupid_modal_window in about:config?

it says false
Set it to true. That's what the pref is for...

This bug wasn't about ABOUT: being too big. It's about it being to ugly. I found this link that would maybe simplify about:. http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Essentials/AquaHIGuidelines/AHIGWindows/index.html I'll try to make one myself and see how it turns out with that link as a guidline

http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Essentials/AquaHIGuidelines/AHIGWindows/index.html isn't the exact link. Then on the sidebar, go to Special Windows>The About Window
The smaller about window contains totally different-looking content and is a lot prettier... did you actually try it? That said, if you're working on this....

Saw the smaller window. It does look better, since it doesn't take the whole window, but it has scroll bars, which made it look like the old "about:" resized and tabbed
I'm going to wait until bug 196980 is Fixed
Is U.S. GOVERNMENT END USERS. The Software is a "commercial item," as that term is defined in 48 C.F.R. 2.101 (Oct. 1995), consisting of "commercial computer software" and "commercial computer software documentation," as such terms are used in 48 C.F.R. 12.212 (Sept. 1995). Consistent with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 and 48 C.F.R. 227.7202-1 through 227.7202-4 (June 1995), all U.S. Government End Users acquire the Software with only those rights set forth herein. neccessary? It's ugly and I don't care about it
It's legally required, I would assume.
Why does Mozilla need it and not MSOffice?
Ask a lawyer.
Is it because british people get the English US version or something? Or do you really don't know?
No, I actually know and I'm just trying to drag down your crusade for a different dialog, while at the same time fighting the US presence in Germany and Iraq. Get a grip, will you?
I'll just leave it like this since firebird has a different one anyways that will take over
