style information for the <option> dropdown is ingored if it is selected

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.set background color for the different options in a select dropdown
2.slect a particular option
3.the background color will not be seen in the selected option (although the
background color is seen in the dropdown, if it is selected, we dont see the
background color)
