In order to get xprint to print properly, it needs to know the resolution (set
in DPI) of each printer. While this might not be a big deal for a home user
with one printer, this is totally unacceptable for a company.
We have many many printers, all managed by CUPS, and it is impossible for me to
manually set and keep up to date this information, just for xprint. Besides,
the user can change the resolution of their printout in the print dialog box
that pops up for each job, which would again make xprint fail.
If xprint needs knowledge of the printer, why not use the PPD files that already
exist. This is what OpenOffice/StarOffice does and is much easier to manage.

Jim Gottlieb - you are aware that XPrint works over the network and that many
users can share one Xprt server? there is absolutely no need to setup and run a
Xprint server per workstation

this sounds like a Xprt postscript driver bug and is not related to mozilla
it may be better to move the bug report to http://xprint.mozdev.org/ where it
would fit much better and would get much more attention...
