User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030410
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030410

This 'error' is reported everytime Gecko starts up. If 43:8 is character 8 of
line 43, then it is the | of html|div; which corresponds to the complaint against
the token 'html'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Mozilla
2. Look at the Console log
3.

Actual Results:
The line as shown is logged:

CSS Error (chrome://global/skin/scrollbars.css :43.8): Unknown namespace prefix
'html'. Selector expected. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector.

Expected Results:
There should be no reported errors against the chrome files

There is no obvious set of instructions (eg linked from
<URL: http://www.mozilla.org/get-involved.html > for modifiying and
testing chrome.
I wonder whether the particular scrollbars.css that I have linked in is missing
the line:

@namespace html url("http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"); /* namespace for HTML
elements */

which would account for the note about namespace and the fact that this warning
has been corrected to date.

I don't really know enough about chrome to say.
Looks like the mac scrollbars CSS files, both native and XUL got some code added
by rods without adding the right namespace... Just adding the namespace decl is
the right thing.
WorksForMe using FizzillaMach/2003-04-11-08-trunk. No such warning is shown on
the Console.
Confirming... Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4b)
Gecko/20030412 debug build
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
A quick scan of my tree shows the following files may be the culprit (first use
of html| w/o namespace being at line 43):

/mozilla/themes/classic/global/mac/scrollbars.css
/mozilla/themes/classic/global/mac/nativeScrollbars.css

I'll spin through the other classic/mac files (non-scollbar related) to make
sure... but it looks like modern is clean (e.g. has html namespace entry &
didn't see console errors when launching with the modern skin)
add to the cleanup list:
/mozilla/themes/classic/global/mac/xulscrollbars.css

another straggler:
/mozilla/themes/classic/messenger/addressbook/addressbook.css

and i can't make out whats up with:
/mozilla/themes/classic/messenger/messageBody.css
This addresses the probelsm that I reported - there may be other files
affected

Same as previous, one more file needed the html namespace, removed it from a few that didn't need it

Marking r= based on comparison with other files, as I don't have a Mac to try
this on.
