Try upgrading to a 15th April nightly build. It is working now, at least on an homemade CVS trunk build, 1 hour old on Linux.

Windows 2000, (up to date on Service Packs & patches) I'm unable to get copy(cut) or paste to work on 1.4b or the May 12th 2003 Nightly build Steps: 1) View this bug 2) Right click on any link and select "Copy Link Location" 3) Paste value into any input field. 2a) copy test from notepad and proceed to step 3 Note: Both the Edit and context menus have copy, cut, paste disabled even when there is something in the clipboard and/or selected on the current page.

I also have problems with cut and paste not working properly on XP... In forms, composer, selection of general text or html using either popup menus or hotkeys. The problem is very strange in that sometimes switching out to another task and coming back seems to temporarily resolve the problem (i.e. I can cut and paste again briefly), however the problem quickly reappears. :( I'm running the latest nightly build... Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030512 but I first noticed this issue last week

garth, if you don't know how to use a bugzilla feature, please don't use it: the blocking1.4+ flag may only be set by members of drivers@mozilla.org which I don't think you are. You may request drivers' consideration by setting the blocking1.4? flag if you choose to do so.

Andreas, apploggies for muffing that up. I do consider this to be a very serious broken feature on Windows... Is it worthy of consideration for blocker status?

Garth: well, that depends on if this bug is _really_ seen by most or all XP users. There are many bugs reported that are caused by installing bad extensions or themes or whatever. This bug is still unconfirmed. I also can't reproduce it with a current nightly on Windows 2000. Especially comment #3 does not happen here. Comment #2 sounds a bit different and the original bug report only says that copy and paste does not work at all and the reporter never answered if the problem still happens in later builds. Well, it does work here, so this cannot be a general problem. Actually, Garth, you seem to be the only one that has this problem with current builds. So you should try creating a new profile, try it on another computer, ask yourself what extensions etc. you have installed that might have corrupted something. You _may_ always set the blocking? flag, but I'm not sure if it makes sense in this case because unless other people have the same problem drivers will probably assume the same as I do: that the problem is a very rare one and is caused/triggered by something on your computer.

I'd like to jump in and say that I'm getting this on two windows 2000 machines. Cut, Copy and Past are grayed out in all menus and the Ctl-C,V,X short cuts also do not work. It failed for me on the Beta release and the May-13 nightly. I've had to go back to 1.4a to get my work done. Also 4 others in my office (also under windows 2000) experienced the problem before regressing back to 1.4a as well.

I just: 1) renamed my C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla directory 2) uninstalled mozilla 3) Deleted the C:\Program Files\mozilla.org directory reinstalled the latest nightly build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030516 4) closed mozilla 5) renamed the new C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla and renamed the old one back 6) restarted mozilla. cut, copy, paste now work great. If someone wants to track down what setting caused this, I still have one machine that exhibits this bug.

Copy/paste is broken in IE too at the moment. Seems Mozilla 1.4b changed something. Selecting text in notepad still works, but can't copy text from either Mozilla or Explorer at the moment.

Since only very few persons do see this and you now even see this with IE, did it come to your mind that maybe something else (not Mozilla) is the cause? (I mean when e.g. every Application uses wrong fonts, why blame Mozilla first?) Did you do any Windows update, install patches, update IE, install other Programs before this problem began? Keith, do you also see this in IE (on the machine that still has this problem)?

Just look at the copy/paste report problems that have been submitted the last time. A lot. Many of them are still unconfirmed, but should be marked as duplicate of this one. So I think more people see it than you realize.

I just rebooted. Both IE and Mozilla work fine now. Not sure if I rebooted after installing it. But the problem definitely didn't exist then. Perhaps Keith can just reboot the machine that still has the problems to see if that helps?

For me it does not occur anywhere except in mozilla. reboot... The reboot did clear the problem.

WFM on WinXP SP1 trunk 2003081515. Anyone here still experiencing problems with this ? If you are, please test it using a recent nightly build from <http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/>. Keep in mind: Always uninstall and delete the Mozilla application directory before installing a new build. Always test bugs using a clean profile. If all is well, we will resolve this bug as WFM.

I wanted to add my observations of this problem. I am using the nightly build from 2003.10.22 with the About string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031022 Firebird/0.7+ I noticed that Cut and Paste seem to work correctly, except when pasting to the address line. Reproducable: Always Steps to reproduce: 1.) Select text and copy it to the clipboard 2.) Click in the address bar 3.) Hit CTRL+V. Nothing happens. The text is able to be pasted into other applications, any place on the webpage, but will not paste into the address bar or the built in google search bar. The odd thing is that when I right click and select Paste or select paste from the Edit menu, everything works as expected. I have no Extensions or Themes installed (this is a clean copy of Phoenix). I also tested my IE and there are no problems using it, so I am pretty sure it is not a Windows problem. This did not occur with Phoenix .6 so it seems to be something new.
