I don't see the pop-up icon in the status bar when pop-ups have been supressed.
I do hear a sound though.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit http://www.aol.com/
2. click a link on this page
3. A pop-up should either appear or be supressed. With pop-ups enabled, the
pop-up window appears. With pop-ups disable, the icon does not appear on the
status-bar

Actual Results:  
There is usually no "pop-up supressed" icon in the status bar.

Expected Results:  
An icon should appear in the status bar

I've tried this with the default theme and using the Orbit 3+1 theme too. I've
seen the pop-up icon displayed occasionally but I cannot reproduce the
circumstances to make it appear.
