203563 - mail authentification failed sometimes during the first e-mail receiving at " gmx-server"

I have several e-mail accounts at different e-mail adress providers. I have two
of them at http://www.gmx.de Since the Mozilla Version 1.4 Alpha and the latest
Thinderbird Nightly Release I have the following problem:
After I started Mozilla Mail, I´d like to check my E-Mail accounts. But if I´m
going to check these GMX-Accounts at the first time, mozilla mail stopps this
progress with an error message "failed authentification" I have to push the
button "Gett Message" twice or three times, until it works and I can receive my
new messages. 
My other E-Mail accounts which I have from other providers are doing well, from
the first time on. 

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Creating a E-Mail Account at www.gmx.de
2. Start Mozilla Mail
3. Use the GMX-Account and push the button "Get Message" to check the E-Mail Box
4. Perhaps you will get an Error Message "failed authentification"
5. Push the "Get Message" button again. (Perhaps it will work now, if not,
you´ll have to push the button again...after some triyings it will work)
Actual Results:  
After the first or two try, failed authentification

Expected Results:  
Get the Messages from the first time on

I think GMX is a little different to my other E-Mail accounts. 
For exemplale If you´d like to send an E-Mail via GMX, you first have to fetch
E-Mails to contact the GMX Server with your Mail Client. After this you´re able
to send E-Mails.

Are you referring to the "MD5-CRAM" authentication?

Michael, this problem is probably a dupe of bug 203219 (although introduced with
20030424 and not with 1.4a).
Please check this with a recent version and close this bug if the problem
doesn't occur again.
