- start typing a recipient name into the "To" field;

I agree. In the 2003043008 build it takes up to 30 seconds to fill in the
address. The cpu sits at 100%

It seems to have lost all its smarts, or else it is looking up each letter as I
type. If I type in a name, I get all sorts of choices that do not match
mypapttern. And the selection list is generally unresponsive.

No matter how fast I type, the address lookup seems to be returning ALL the hits
for the first letter I type. That is why it is so slow.

It is now painful to comp[ose a message. And bacause it takes 100% of the cpu,
you cannot do anything else except to fume.

Per bug 204129, this started being a problem after 2003042511....

This basically makes autocomplete unusable.

I think the dates in comment 3 might be a little bit confused.  I caused a
regression to this with my checkin on 04/28/2003 21:17.  That has already been
fixed though with my landing earlier today.  It should work fine in tomorrow's
builds.  Resolving dupe.
